Hey guys! Today I woke up and decided I wanted to do a dramatic smoky eye and put on a pair of false lashes just for the hell of it and I thought what would be better than putting up a how-to on my blog for all of you. I think this look is perfect for a night out and great for any Halloween party you're going to. Lately most of the eye looks I've been wearing have been very warm toned with lots of oranges, warm browns, and golds. So with this look I wanted to use some taupes and coool/neutral browns to mix things up. The eyes have an awesome gradient crease that goes from light to dark, with a beautiful shimmery taupe shade on the lid. I also added a pop of silver glitter on the lower lash line and so long false lashes to make the look even more dramatic and sultry. I just purchased the Mehron creme foundation, so I used it for the first time creating this look. I have to say that this foundation is the most beautiful foundation I have used. It gives amazing coverage and the most gorgeous glow to your skin. Since the foundation had such a beautiful glow I decided to keep the rest of the skin glowing, as well as keeping it as natural looking as possible so it wouldn't compete with the eyes. I really hope ya'll like my look and keep reading to learn how to create this makeup for yourself!
How To: EYES
-Start off by applying an eye shadow primer all over the lids and lower lash line. Then apply a skin toned base or concealer on the lids.
-Blend a matte cream shadow underneath the brow and into the crease. This will work as your brow highlight and blending color.
-Next, take a light cool toned brown shadow and apply it into your upper crease. You want your crease to have a gradient effect to it, so it will go from light to dark working down. You also want most of the color to be focused on the outer corner and blend out working inward.
-Then take a slightly darker matte taupe shadow and blend that into the crease, staying just below the last color. Then blend another slightly deeper matte taupe right on top of that and blend inward.
-Apply a shimmery deep taupe shadow all over the lid, leaving the very outer corner open.
-On a small blending brush, take a dark cool toned matte brown shadow and blend it into the outer corner of the lid and right into your socket. You really want to build this color up in the outer corner. You also want to use this shadow to blend out the line between your lid color and your crease.
-Take a matte black and apply it right into the outer edge of the look, fading it out into the brown.
-Apply the light taupe into the inner 1/2 of your lower lashline. Then apply the deep brown to the remaining part of your lashline.
-Then using a silver glitter liner, or just a silver glitter, line the inner 1/2 of the lower lash line.
-Apply a shimmery white shadow around your tear ducts to brighten the eyes.
-Line the upper lash line with a black liquid liner and apply a coat of mascara to your upper lashes to prepare them for lashes. You also want to apply mascara to the lower lash line, as well.
-Apply your false lashes and blend them with your natural lashes and rim your eyes with a black liner to finish.

ReplyDeleteThanks girl! I too have been on the hunt for the perfect taupe shadow and have found a few good ones. I love MAC "Satin Taupe", Loreal Infallible "Bronzed Taupe", Urban Decay "YDK" from the Naked 2 palette, and this Urban Decay "Derailed" from the Vice 2 palette. I'm of course never satisfied though, so I'm still hunting =)
