My Easy, Everyday Eye and Face Look + How-to

Hey guys, long time no blog! I'm back today with my easy to get, everyday eye and face look. This is my go-to looks on days when 1. I don't have a lot of time, 2. I'm being lazy and want something easy that I know looks good, or 3. I'm going somewhere that I need a simple, yet glamorous look. The great thing about a look like this is, that you can tailor it to fit your needs; such as, you can change up the colors on the lid or lips or cheeks, you can make the eyeliner smaller or larger, or wear no eyeliner. I just love that I can wake and quickly throw this look on and I know that I'm going to look put together and like I spent double the amount of time to get it. I really hope yall like this look and keep reading to find out what I used and how you can get this look for yourself.

How To: EYES
-Apply a skin toned base all over your lids and underneath the lower lash line to prime the eyes.
-Take a satin finish ivory shadow and highlight under the brow and around the tear ducts to really help brighten and open the eyes.
-On a large fluffy brush, blend a matte, medium pink/brown shade into your crease to act as your blending/transition shade.
-Apply a shimmery pale pink shadow to the lid, leaving the very outer corner open. The reason I'm using ivory and pale pink shades is because I really want to create an open, bright eye and those shades and the finishes they are in really help achieve that.
-On a small blending brush, take a medium matte brown shadow and blend it into the crease and outer corner of the eye. You also want to run this color all along underneath the lower lash line. You want to bring this color down as far as you are comfortable, then blend it out with your original transition shade.
-Take a matte finish black liquid liner and create a semi-dramatic wing and instead of bringing the line all the way into the inner corner, stop halfway. This will, again, help to create a more open rounded effect to the eyes.
-Tightline your eyes with a waterproof black pencil, then curl your lashes and add mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
-Fill in your brows, but keep them natural and set them with brow gel to keep the hairs in place all day. Filling in your brows will completely change your face and help to frame the eyes.

How To: FACE
-Apply a pore erasing primer all over your face, focusing mainly in the center of your face where pores are normally the largest.
-Buff a light-medium coverage foundation all over your face and down onto your neck.
-Apply a corrector under your eyes to help erase dark circles and brighten them up.
-Apply a concealer that's the same or slightly lighter than your foundation to the center of your face, around your nostrils, and under your eyes, then blend it in with a damp beauty blender.
-Set all of the concealer with a light toned powder, then set everything else with a powder that matches the foundation. If you are pressed for time you don't have to use two different powders, I just like the effect it gives.
-Use a matte bronze to bronze and sculpt the face. While you want your face to have definition, you also want to buff and blend out the edges so it looks more natural.
-Apply a glowy pinky blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend back.
-Highlight the tops of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, cupid's bow, and anywhere else you feel comfortable. I used the same eyeshadow that I used to highlight the eyes on my face, so that it all blended seamlessly.
-For my lips: I first used Sigma's lip concealer to conceal my natural lip color and create a blank canvas, then I lined my lips with a light pink lip liner, then I applied Urban Decay's Native Revolution lipstick straight to my lips.

I really hope you all liked this look! I'm so sorry I haven't been updating lately, but it's Mardi Gras season down here in Louisiana, which is like one of our busiest times of years. So I've had family down, a cousin staying with me, lot's of parades and family get togethers to go. It's just been non stop for a little while, but I really hope to start posting more regularly. So don't forget to leave me a comment with any requests or comments you might have and also give me +1 if you liked this look <3

Boxycharm Un-boxing: February 2014 "Sweetest Box"

Hey guys! Today I have a Boxycharm un-boxing to share with yall. For those of you who have never heard of Boxycharm; they are a monthly beauty subscription service, that costs $21/month, includes 5 full size to deluxe sample sized products, and they guarantee that every month your box will be worth at least double what you paid. This is only my second month being subscribed to Boxycharm, and to be honest I really don't remember what I got last month, but I was very impressed with this month's box. The theme for this month was "Sweetest Box" and it is all about Valentine's Day. I found that all the products in the box went along perfect with their theme, and in the end you can put together a beautiful V-day makeup look. So if you are curious to see what I received in my February Boxycharm Box, just keep reading!

Eyelashi hand tied lashes- Full size $9.00
^Accessorize your eyes with the perfect lashes for every occasion.
-Full Size. I haven't tried these lashes out yet, because I am saving them for Valentine's Day. These lashes look beautiful and are very long and pretty. I also really love the box they come in and the cute little quote on the inside. I'm really excited to try these lashes out!

NARS nail polish "Amchoor"- Full size $19.00
^ NARS nail polish shades are both classic and fashion forward. You'll fall in love with every shade.
-Full Size. I was so excited to find this in my box. I have never owned a NARS nail polish before, and let me tell you that this shade did not disappoint. The color is this creamy, saturated canary yellow that goes on opaque literally in one coat. I am just 100% in love with this polish and I know it's going to become one of my go-to Spring colors!

Pandora's Makeup Box blush "Misty Pink"- Full Size $18.00
^Pandora's Makeup Box blushes are specifically formulated to create cheek color that lasts.
-Full Size. This little blush is so gorgeous! The color of this blush is a pale peachy pink with a matte finish. This color is light, but vibrant and extremely soft and pigmented. I love the way it looked on my cheeks, it made me look flushed and alive and it blended onto my skin with no problems. I love the packaging on this blush, it's small and cute. I also love that you can take the blush pan out of it's little packaging and put it into a separate palette or when you run out of the blush, you can buy refill blush pans from their website to refill it with. I also love that they tell you that you can use these blushes as eyeshadows too, because I think this would be a gorgeous shadow.

Mirabella LA LA Lips "Love Velvet"- Full Size $23.00
^Creamy, moisturizing lip pencil glides on to create a flawless satin finish with intense, longwearing color.
-Full Size. Every single word they use to describe this lip pencil is absolutely true! This lip pecil goes on super opaque and is super creamy and moisturizing on the lips. I found that when I applied it to my lips, it went on super smooth and creamy, with intense color payoff. It lasted for hours without smearing or drying out and it left a gorgeous red stain on my lips for the rest of the night. I really like this pencil and will most likely be wearing this on Valentine's Day.

Mirabella eye definer "Smoke"- Full Size $19.00
^Richly colored eye pencil glides on smoothly for a perfectly precise look.
-Full Size. I really like this eyeliner. It applied really smoothly and didn't pull or tug at my eye. It has a deep dark black color, that stayed black and didn't fade throughout the day. I love the way this liner looks smudged on my upper lid, as well as applied to the waterlines. I found that while this pencil applies smoothly and creamily, it does set and has great lasting power. I suggest if you're wanting to smudge this liner out, I would do one eye at a time, that way it doesn't dry before you get to smudging.

Total cost of box: $88.00
Price paid: $21.00

All in all, I am very happy with every single product I received in my box, which is a huge rarity with these subscription services. I'm glad I gave Boxycharm a chance, and I can't wait to see what I get next month!

Purple and Pink Valentine's Day Makeup

Hey guys! It's been so long since the last time I put up a post, and I'm super sorry about that, but I really needed to take that time to myself. This last month has really allowed me the time to let myself relax and regroup, and find some new inspiration. So today's look is inspired by Valentine's Day and it's classic pink and purple colors. I've really felt like I've been stuck in a rut, using the same neutral colors everyday, so using the bright colors really felt nice. I'm so happy with how beautiful this look came out to be, and trust me when I tell you that these pictures don't do any justice for how vibrant and gorgeous these colors really are. I've really missed all you guys and I'm so happy to be back on here, sharing my looks with all of yall. I also want to remind all of you to follow me on instagram. I'm always posting looks on there, as well as mini reviews and other things. My instagram is: talesofamakeupjunkie

How To: EYES
-Apply a primer or base all over your lids and underneath the lower lash line.
-Highlight under your brow with a matte cream shadow, then apply a matte light pink shadow into your upper crease to act as your blending shade.
-On a large fluffy brush, blend a light matte lavender shadow right on top of your blending shade, blending it all through out your crease.
-Next, take a medium matte purple and apply it into your crease also. You want to make sure there are no harsh lines and that the crease blends out softly.
-Apply a medium, vibrant matte purple and apply it into your socket, blending it up slightly.
-Use a sparkly magenta pink shadow and apply it to your lids, making sure to leave the very inner and outer corner opens. I used Sugarpill Magentric loose shadow.
-Apply a very shimmery pale pink shadow into the inner corner, making sure to blend it around your tear ducts as well.
-Take a deep, matte purple shadow on a small brush and apply it right into the socket line and outer corner. You want this shadow to give the illusion of a soft cut-crease; so apply it, blend it slightly into your other crease colors, then apply it again. Make sure you also blend it into the magenta color on the lid at the outer corners.
-On the lower lash, apply the vibrant purple from inner to outer corner, then apply the darkest purple into the very outer corner, making sure to connect it to your upper lid.
-Rim your eyes with a black liner, then add a slightly dramatic liquid cat-eye liner to your upper lid. You can use gel liner, or no eye liner if it's easier for you.
-Add lots of mascara to your top and bottom lashes to complete the eyes.
