Utopia: an eye look using Makeup Geek pigments

Hey guys, happy Monday (or not) =). I received my order from Makeup Geek in the mail on Saturday afternoon and I just could not wait to dig into the gorgeous pigments I got, but unlucky for me I had already done my makeup and I had my own birthday party to attend so I had to wait for Sunday before I could truly do a makeup look with them. The whole reason I placed an order in the first place was for her pigment "Utopia" and any of you have seen swatches or own this pigment then you know how absolutely GORGEOUS it is. I've been told that it is a dupe for MAC's antique gold reflects, but I don't own it so I couldn't compare. Anyway this pigment is a rich, glittery mix of dark brown and antique gold. I own absolutely nothing like this in my collection, so needless to say I was beyond excited to purchase this. I had looked at swatches of it and watched a video dedicated to it's awesomeness by xsparkage on YouTube and honestly until you see it in real life nothing does it justice. It's just a beautiful and unique color and actually really nice to work with.

For this eye look I knew I wanted "Utopia" to be the star color and have the rest of the colors more subdued. I applied a piece of tape to the corners of my eye so that it would have a super sharp edge and also so it would help catch some of the fall out, and I have to admit this product has lots of it, but that's to be expected with loose pigments. I applied a black base to the lid, staying under the crease, then applied "Utopia" on top of it using a Sigma E56, which is a small shader brush, and gently patted the product on being sure to not swipe the color. I kept this color just on the lid and blended it out with a soft, matte taupe color from the new Kat Von D Ladybird palette. I blended that color all the way up to the beginning of the brow bone, leaving just enough room for a matte cream highlight. I then went on to take Urban Decay's "Darkhorse" to the socket line and outer corner using a Sigma E36 from the Performance Eyes kit again because it is the tiniest little blending brush and it allowed me to keep that color exactly where I wanted it. I also applied that color on the lower lash line just smoking it out a bit. I feel like "Darkhorse" complements "Utopia" wonderfully because they are very similar colors. I had originally planned to do winged out gel liner on the lid, but I decided last minute to just do regular liner because the eye shadow shape was already winged out. I also added some black liner to the waterline and tightline as well.
