Hello gorgeous makeup junkies! Now I know right now is the time of proms, dances, and soon- graduation!! So I know that a lot of you out there are trying to find that perfect makeup look to work for a special occasion, whether it be for school or anything else important you have going on. Today's look is a gorgeous antique gold and burgundy/brown smokey eye, flawless skin, and a glossy wine lip. Now I know that some people are scared to wear a deep lip with a dark eye look, so if you're not into the wine lips, trade it out for a nude or pink. I, on the other hand, think that when you mix a deep eye and lip (and you do it right), it creates a very sultry and romantic look. I've done makeup (and hair) for a lot of dances, and I almost always get asked to do a smokey eye. I think that this has become such a fan-favorite for high school girls, because it does give a more mature and sexy look, transforming you into a glamour girl right before your eyes. For this look, I kept with the smokey eye request but I wanted to use different colors besides black, silver, and grey; which led me to the look below. I used almost all Makeup Geek shadows on the eyes, including her amazing "Utopia" pigment- which is an extremely chunky and sparkly antiue gold pigment with tiny green and purple reflects in it. This pigment can be a little messy and difficult to work with, so I recommend doing your eyes before foundation and to use a good glitter glue underneath the pigment. For the lips, I used Whitening Lightning's Color Your Smile light up gloss in "Seduction", which is an extremely pigmented wine colored lip gloss that wears for a long time and doesn't bleed down your face. I also love that the packaging includes a mirror and a light, so you can touch up anywhere you are. The other big reason I wanted to use this lip gloss is because it has such great color payoff and doesn't require using any other products and it doesn't feel goopy and uncomfortable on your lips. I'm really happy with how this look came out and I really hope you all like it as well! Keep reading to see how to get this eye look, as well as I'll explain how I did my face as well.
How To: EYES
Step 1
^Apply a piece of tape at the outer edge of your eye, to create a sharp outer edge. Using the tape will also help keep you from going to crazy with the dark shadows. Then, apply your favorite primer or base all over the lids and lower lash line to ensure that your shadow lasts all night and doesn't crease on you.
Step 2
^Apply a satin or shimmery cream shadow underneath your brow to highlight. Then blend a matte peach shadow into your upper crease to act as your blending/transition shade. Since this is a "special occasion" eye look, I did use a good amount of shadows to help create depth and dimension but you can cut it down and use as many shadows as you want. I used "Shimma Shimma" for the brow highlight and "Peach Smoothie" as the transition shade; both shadows are from Makeup Geek (MUG)
Step 3
^Apply a slightly deeper matte, warm toned brown and apply it into your crease, blending it right into your transition shade. I used MUG "Creme Brulee"
Step 4
^Using a slightly deeper warm, matte brown shadow, blend the shadow into your crease; stay right under the previous shadows and blend the edges so there are no harsh lines. You want all the shadows in the crease to blend smoothly. I used MUG's "Frappe".
Step 5
^Using a deep matte, warm toned brown shadow and blend into your lower crease. I used MUG's "Cocoa Bear"
Step 6
^Taking a matte burgundy shadow, blend lightly into your crease. This will give all the shadows a slight reddish tint. I used "Bitten" by MUG.
Step 7
^Apply glitter glue all over your lid, then pat the MUG pigment in "Utopia" right on top. You really want to make sure you pat the pigment on to give you the smoothest application with the smallest amount of fall out.
Step 8
^On a small blending brush, blend a small amount of matte black shadow right into your socket line and outer corner. Using a clean blending brush, go back and blend over the black to create a soft, faded out effect. I used UD "Blackout"
Step 9
-Apply black gel liner to your upper lash line, creating a small-medium sized wing. Smudge out the line a little bit, this will create a softer effect to the liner (and it also helps you not worry about drawing a perfect line). Go ahead and rim your waterlines with the liner, as well.
Step 10
-Blend one of your medium brown shadows underneath the lower lash line, from inner to outer corner; then blend out the bottom of that line with the peach shadow. I used MUG's "Frappe" mixed with a little "Bitten", but you could use one or the other. Then apply the same shimmery cream shadow that you highlighted your brow bone with, around your tear ducts to brighten and help open up the eyes. I used MUG's "Shimma Shimma" again.
Step 11
-Curl your lashes and apply a little bit of mascara to the top lashes to prep them for falsies, then add a hefty coat to your bottom lashes. Then apply a thick pair of false lashes to really make the eyes pop!
Finished Look:
*Trust me when I say pictures don't do this look justice. "Utopia" shows up so sparkly and multi-faceted in the light; it literally justs twinkles! Also

How To: FACE
-Prep your face with an illuminating primer, this will help brighten the skin and help lock in your foundation so it lasts all night. Since this is a "Special Occasion" makeup look, I really went all out on the skin; using cream and powder products to create a flawless, sculpted look. I also used lots of long-wearing products, to really ensure that this look lasts as long as possible!
-Using a damp sponge, apply a long-wear, fuller coverage foundation. Using a damp sponge will help melt the foundation into your skin, so you don't get that mask-like appearance you can sometimes get with a full coverage foundation.
-Apply a long-wear concealer under your eyes and on any blemishes or redness you may have still peeking through. Don't be concerned with covering every flaw, no one has perfect skin.
-Add a brightening or highlighting concealer under your eyes and down the center of your face, then apply a deeper concealer under your cheek bones, around the temples and nose to help contour your face.
-Set the highlighting concealer with a light powder, then set the rest of your face with a powder that matches your foundation.
-Apply a light, matte bronzer to your cheekbones, temples, nose, and jaw bone to warm up the skin tone.
-Then, contour your cheeks with a slightly deeper matte bronzer to really sculpt out those cheekbones.
-Apply a peach colored blush to the backs of your cheekbones, bringing it slightly onto the apples.
-Add a slightly natural-looking highlighting powder to the tops of the cheekbones, cupid's bow, and a tiny bit to the bridge of your nose. You don't want to use a super shimmery highlighting powder if you plan on taking pictures (especially with flash) because it will pick up on all those little shimmers and you don't want to look like a greasy disco ball =)
-Apply your favorite wine toned lip gloss or lipstick. I recommend that if you're going for a dark lip, use a product that will last and not smear all over your face. I seriously can't recommend the Whitening Lightning "Seduction" lip gloss enough!
