Dramatic Purple & Gold Eye Makeup How To - Recreation of an old look

Happy weekend makeup junkies! Going along with what I said in my last post about loving me some dramatic makeup right now, we have this fun purple and gold smokey eye. I decided to do a "sandwich" smokey eye, which just means that you keep the darkness on the outer edges and "sandwich" a lighter color in the middle. I love to use this technique because it creates a more open, rounded eye, and when combine it with a sharp edge at the outer corner, it just creates a very elongated but still wide and open eye. These techniques are great if you want to do a smokey eye, but feel like your eyes are too small or that the deep colors will close them off; or if you just think it looks cool and want to make your eyes look a little larger. This look is actually a recreation of mine, from one of my very first looks I posted on here and with my blog's first birthday coming up in a couple days I thought it would be fun to see how far I've came since I started on here. I have to say, when I went back and looked at that old post, it literally made me laugh at how huge of a difference there is between the two looks. I've gotten way better at placement and blending, and just taking pictures in general. I'll link my old blog post below, so you can see the transformation for yourself.

How To: EYES
-Apply a piece of tape to the outer corner, to ensure that you get a sharp outer edge. This will also help you with blending out the bright colors. Also go ahead and apply your favorite eye primer/base to the lids and lower lash line.
-Blend a matte white or cream shadow underneath the brow to act as your highlight shade.
-Next, blend a medium or deep matte purple shadow into the inner and outer corners of your lid. You also want to run this shadow into the crease. Make sure to leave the center of your lid blank. This is where you will apply the shimmery gold later.
-Take a light, matte purple and blend out the crease. You may need to go back and forth with the two different purples to get the intensity you like.
-Add a shimmery gold base to the center of your eyelid, then apply a shimmery gold pigment or shadow right over top. Make sure you blend the gold into the purple a little bit, just so there are no distinct lines between the colors.
-Using either gold glitter, or the Lorac "Gold" 3-D Liquid Lustre like I used, and apply it right over that gold shadow. Blend some of this around the tear ducts as well.
-Apply some winged liquid or gel liner to the lids and also rim your waterlines with a black kohl pencil, as well.
-Blend the dark purple all along your lower lash line, then blend it out with the lighter purple.
-Curl your lashes and apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes, then apply your favorite pair of falsies.
