Black On Black - Dramatic Smokey Eyes & Black Lips - Makeup Tutorial + Lots of Pics!

Hey makeup junkies! So lately I've been in the mood for dramatic makeup, so with this look I wanted to create an all matte smokey eye and pair it with black glossy lips. About a month ago I bought the Whitening Lightning Color Your Smile lighted lip gloss in "Borneo", which is an opaque black lip gloss. I've never really been one for black lips, even in my high school goth phase, but I am definitely changing my mind. I love how this look came out, especially the eyes. I tried to stick to using only cool toned colors and it ended up creating this very blown out cool white and black smokey eye. I did a step-by-step picture tutorial for you guys, so that you could see how and where I placed the shadows- but I do have one question for you; Would you prefer it if I show you which brush I used in each step? Let me know in the comments below and if you want to see how to get this dramatic eye and lip look for yourself, just keep reading!!

How To: EYES

Step 1- Prime
-Apply your favorite eyeshadow primer to the lids and lower lash line, then lay down a white base to help the shadows pop when placed on top. You also may want to apply a piece of tape at the outer edges of your eye to create a sharp edge. If you don't want to use tape, just use some makeup remover to clean up the edges when you're finished with the eyes.

Step 2- Brow Highlight
-Apply a matte cream or white shadow (depending on your skin tone and how dramatic you want the look) underneath the brow to highlight. I used "Matt Malloy" from TheBalm Meet Matte Nude palette mixed with a little of W.O.S. from the UD Basics palette.

Step 3- Transition
-Blend a light, cool toned matte brown shadow into your upper crease. This shade will help your darker shadows blend easier. I used "Naked 2" from the Urban Decay NAKED Basics palette.

Step 4- Crease
-Blend a medium/deep, cool toned matte brown shadow into your crease- make sure you blend out the edges, so it blends nicely into your transition shade. I used "Faint" from the UD Basics palette.

Step 5- Lid
-Apply your white (or cream) shadow to the lid and inner corner, making sure to stay below the crease.

Step 6- Crease & Outer Corner
-Blend a matte black shadow into your crease and outer corner. Go easy with the black shadow, you don't want to bring the shadow up too high or go too crazy with it. I used "Crave" from the UD Basics palette.

Step 7- Liner
-Using liquid liner, line your lids creating a wing at the outer edges. Rim your waterlines and lower lash line with a black kohl liner.

Step 8- Lower Lash line
-Using your matte black shadow, smudge out that liner on your lower lash line.

Step 9- Lower Lash Line
-Blend out your lower lash line with your transition shadow, this will make the look even smokier.

Step 10- Lashes
-Curl your lashes and apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Then apply your favorite pair of dramatic falsies.
