NARS Limited Edition Guy Bourdin "One Night Stand" cheek palette- Review & Swatches

Hey guys! I just received my package in the mail from the Sephora VIB sale and wanted to rush on here so I could share with you this gorgeous little gem from NARS. NARS has came out with a whole limited edition collection based on the works of photographer Guy Bourdin. The collection contains a lip kit, special lipstick, blush and eyeshadow, and of course the piece de resistance- the "One Night Stand" cheek palette. Now last year NARS came out with a similar limited edition palette called the "Danmari" palette, but unfortunately for me I was not able to get it before it sold out. So the minute I saw they had a similar one this year I jumped on it!

This palette contains four blushes, one bronzer, and one highlighter all in in one convenient little palette. This palette sells for $65 (U.S.) and is available on Sephora's website. The palette contains three shades (Laguna, Deep Throat, and Orgasm) that are available in their normal collection and three shades (Goulue, Devotee, and Mistinguette) that are inspired by Guy Bourdin's work and available only in this palette. Each of the blushes are .14 OZ, (their regular blushes are .16 OZ and sell for $29 each) so you're getting a lot of product for a very good price. The packaging has the normal NARS matte rubberized black packaging, has a nice sized mirror, and is very sleek and compact (the whole palette is about the size of my hand.)

My Thoughts: I think this palette is an insane deal for the amount of product you get and the price you pay. This palette is a perfect gift for yourself or anyone who is a lover makeup. I love the mix of colors and shades you get in this palette and I think this is perfect if you have really been wanting to try out some NARS face products, because it not only contains three limited edition shades, but also three of their top selling blushes and bronzer. The size of the palette is perfect for traveling and for storing, because it is compact and sleek and also quite durable. I find the shades in the palette apply beautifully and pigmented to the cheeks and face, which to be honest I expected no less from a NARS product. I love that all the shades in the palette work well together and give you lots of options for creating looks. I have a hard time finding cons to this palette, but there are a couple. For one I feel like this palette is best suited for light to medium skin tones, not saying that deeper skin tones won't love this palette because a lot of the blushes would work great, but the bronzer is very light and so is the highlighter. However the blushes really would look great on deep skin tones and if you must have this palette, you could always use the highlight and bronzer as eyeshadows if they don't work for you. I personally love using Laguna as a crease shade for a quick and natural eye look. The other slight downside to this palette is the fact that it does contain a good bit of shimmer and frost. Mistinguette is the only matte shade, but the other shades all have different ranges of shimmer or sheen to them. I'm normally not a fan of blushes with shimmer to them, but I find that these give a nice glow to the face and really brighten and enhance your skin. I love that there is a mix of colors- from the cool brown of laguna, to bright pink, to peach, and a deeper red berry, that all work together beautifully. I also love the fact that you can mix the shades together and create your own custom shade. I'm just totally in love with this palette and so happy to have it in my collection.

^Devotee & Laguna

-Devotee (limited edition)- Frosty pale beige highlighting powder. I'm in love, love, LOVE with this highlighter! It is the perfect light highlighter. It gives a gorgeous glow to the skin and can be applied sheer for a natural highlight or built up for an intense frosty glow. I don't have another highlighter that looks so silky and glow-y on the skin.

-Laguna- Slightly cool toned brown bronzer with a hint of golden shimmer. This bronzer is amazing for lighter skin tones, as it applies slightly sheer and has a lighter brown color. Even though this has shimmer in it I still love to use it as a contour powder, because I find that the shimmers don't translate so much to the skin and the color is perfect to sculpt and bronze your face.

^Mistinguette & Deep Throat

-Mistinguette (limited edition)- Matte cool toned bright pink. This blush has a blue base to it and is quite bright, yet gives a gorgeous flush to the cheeks. This blush will definitely not be suitable for everyone, but I like the way it looks with the cooler tones in my skin.

-Deep Throat- Sheer peach with a slight shimmer. I loved the way this blush applied to the cheeks and the naturally flushed effect it gave. I think this is a universally flattering shade and one many people would wear and love.

^Orgasm & Goulue

-Orgasm- Peachy pink with golden shimmer. This is NARS' best selling blush and for good reason. It's a beautiful shade and because of it's pink and peach color it will suit all skin colors. This blush does have a lot of shimmer, which could be a turn-off to some people.

-Goulue- Medium pink/berry. This is a pretty unique shade, that's perfect for the Autumn season. I love that they put a deeper shade like this in the palette. This color would work great as a blush/contour on lighter skin tones and be absolutely beautiful on medium to deep skin tones, as well.

Final Thoughts:  This cheek palette is a must have for all you makeup junkies out there! The shades are beautiful and unique and the value you get is amazing. I feel like everything, from the packaging, to the colors, and the formula are so luxe and glamorous. I feel like this palette is perfect if you've been wanting to try out some NARS cheek products, because it not only contains three of their top selling products, but also three limited edition shades as well. If you are thinking about purchasing this palette I would hop on it, because it is limited edition and will be gone before you know it.
