Hot or Not? Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder: Highlight-01

Hey guys! How was everyone's Thanksgiving holidays? Mine was great! I got to spend time with family and just relax for a few days, but now I'm back and ready to talk beauty. For today's "Hot or Not" I'm talking all about Laura Mercier's new Matte Radiance baked powder in Highlight-01 ($36, 7.50g/.26 OZ). This highlighting powder recently launched along with some new bronzing powders and is part of their permanent collection. I had been trying to purchase this product for a while since it had launched, but it was always sold out. Finally the other day I saw that it was back in stock, so I jumped on it and I am so happy I did.

This is a baked highlighting powder, so it gives a very natural finish to the skin. I'm not quite sure why they call this a "matte radiance" powder, because there is nothing matte about this. The powder has a high sheen, satin finish, with the tiniest of tiny little shimmers in it. The color is more of a neutral beige, but it has a slight translucency to it that will allow it to work for a very broad range of skin tones and colors. The powder itself it so finely milled and not only feels smooth, but applies so smoothly to the skin. I love that this product gives such a gorgeous glow to the skin, without having glitter or large shimmer particles in it. This is basically what I was hoping the Urban Decay baked highlighting powder would have been, but just wasn't.  This powder just gives such a gorgeous natural glow to the skin, without it being chalky or chunky. Being as fair as I am and also having dry skin makes it difficult to find a highlighter that isn't too dark or that draws more attention the the dry areas on my face, but this product seriously makes my skin look so healthy and glowing but not at all greasy.

The highlighter comes in a decent sized compact with a mirror. If you are at all familiar with Laura Mercier's products, then you will notice that this packaging is pretty much the same as her other compacts. I like that it's not too big and bulky and that it has a very classic look to it, as well. As with most baked products, the powder has that domed shape to it and a slightly marbled look. Since this product is baked, you have the option to use it wet or dry depending on how intense of a finish you want. I also really like that this product can be used on your eyes to create a gorgeous champagne shadow or you can dust it on your collar bones or shoulders to make your body glow.

To apply this product, I use a medium sized fan brush and I swipe it on the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, center of the forehead and chin, and my cupid's bow. Normally I would never apply highlighter all over my face like that, but it takes a lot to go overboard with this powder and on my dry skin it really just makes my skin so healthy and glowing plus the finish is perfection.

So if you can't tell by now, I think this product is hot, hot, HOT! I've only had this powder for about a week, but it's definitely become my go-to highlighting product and I see it staying that way for a while. I've had absolutely no issues with this breaking out my ultra sensitive skin which is a huge relief. I just can't find anything wrong with this product and trust me I have been looking. It just looks so beautiful on the skin and lasts for hours without fading. It's so smooth and finely milled, the color is perfection, and it's not glittery or chunky at all. I would say that if you're in need of a new highlighting powder and don't mind paying $36, or if like me you just love highlighters, then this product is for you. I've looked at so many reviews of this product and have not yet found one negative review out there. I just think this powder is pure perfection and may just be my new HG highlighter. I did recently put in an order for TheBalm's Mary Loumanizer highlighter, which I should be receiving in a few weeks, so maybe I'll do a comparison post one day.

If you've used this product, let me know how you liked it. I would also love to know ya'lls thoughts on the Mary Loumanizer as well.
