Well it's finally September and although it's still very warm in Louisiana, it's still the appropriate time to start pulling out all those deep colored eyeshadows and lipsticks. Today I was very inspired to do a monochromatic plum look with a plum/berry gradient cat eye and berry lips. These colors always make me think of Fall, yet are still appropriate for the time in between Summer and Fall. The lips aren't quite the deep plum color synonymous with fall, but a brighter berry that is a perfect transition color that will still work for colder months ahead. So many people are afraid to use colors like this on their eyes, because they're scared that they may make you look tired or sick. So just a couple tips for wearing shades like this: Mascara is a must, rimming your eyes with a black or dark brown liner will add definition and break up the red toned shades, and always brighten up under the eyes with concealer because any dark circles will make you look more tired or sick. What many people don't know is that these red based shadows really compliment every eye shade, they make your eye color brighter and make them really pop out. I hope you guys like this look and remember makeup is meant to be fun, so experiment and try different things, you never know what's going to work for you.
How to get this eye look:
-Prime lids with a good eye primer to keep the shadows from creasing. To get the sharp edge you can either use tape or free hand and just use a makeup wipe to clean up the edges.
-Start with a medium burgundy/plum shade and apply it all over the lid and up into the crease. At the edges you want to wing it out like you would eyeliner, but connect it to the crease.
-Then take a deep matte plum shadow and apply onto the lid and into the crease, keeping it right under the first shade. Also when you wing this shadow out, keep the wing thinner than the first.
-Next, take a deep plum eyeliner and line right against the lash line. Then smudge that line out with a shimmery plum shadow and wing it out at the edges.
-Take a matte cream shadow or your face powder and fluff all over your brow bone.
-On the lower lash line use the matte plum shadow and run it from inner corner to outer corner. Then smudge some of the shimmery plum shadow right into the outer corner.
-Rim the eyes with a black pencil liner and add lots of mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Then highlight around the tear ducts with your face highlighter just to brighten the eyes up.

For my skin, since I want to stick to an Autumn influence, I kept it matte yet luminous. I used a lightweight, medium coverage liquid powder foundation all over my face to even things out. Then I used a brightening concealer under my eyes and on any areas that I wanted to highlight and then I set everything with a mattifying powder. I contoured my face with a matte bronzer and used a neutral rosy blush on the backs of my cheekbones. Then I used a pink toned highlighting powder on the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, cupid's bow, and inner corner of my eyes. To finish off the look and tie everything together I applied a berry lipstick to my lips.
I hope you all like this look. Look forward to seeing more Autumn inspired looks coming up and I have some product reviews coming up as well.
