So June's theme is "On the Wild Side" and my bag included the Psssst! Dry Shampoo, NYX creme blush in Boho Chic, J.cat Beauty sparkling cream palette in Suzie, Starlooks lip pencil in Tipsy, and Cailyn line fix gel eyeliner in Iron.
The bag this month is an adorable leopard print bag with a neon yellow zipper, which is placed a 1/3 of the way down, and tag. I have actually already started using this as my purse's makeup bag as the size is perfect and it matches my neon yellow and black Fox purse that I'm carrying right now. This bag just screams Summer-time to me!
So the first product I tried from the bag was this dry shampoo. Now I have never used this product before, but have heard people rave about it and honestly I didn't see what all the hype was about. To start off with I have pretty dry hair, but do use lots of oils and things to combat so I do love to refresh my hair on the 2nd or 3rd day with a little dry shampoo, I also love the volume it gives me. This kind of didn't do anything for my hair. Maybe if I had more oil I would notice a difference but this didn't even give me a touch of volume. I do have to say that it went on pretty clear, didn't leave a white cast, and didn't make my hair sticky, plus I liked the way it sprayed and the smell (sort of coconut-y). But I won't be repurchasing this, as my Batiste dry shampoo just does amazing things for my hair.
I was super excited to see this in my Bag because I had heard some of the YouTube girls talking about it and had heard that it was amazing. I wasn't really thrilled with the color choice (I just love black liner) but much preferred the "Iron" color to the other color I had seen going around. This liner has some really cool packaging, you get a brush in the lid, and you get a good amount of product in there. The color is a cool, medium to dark gunmetal shade with just a hint of shimmer in it that's slightly metallic. I did try the brush it comes with and I have to say it's the best one I have found on a gel liner yet, but I still prefer to use my own eyeliner brushes to apply it. The color applied smoothly and evenly and you can build it up to get a darker shade. This eyeliner does NOT budge after you apply it and you don't have much time to play around with it if you're going to smudge it out or use it as a base. I absolutely LOVE the lasting power of this liner (it's still on and I applied it almost 10 hours ago) and actually I quite like the color. I am seriously debating buying the black shade when I run out of my Maybelline one.
I got the J.Cat Sparkling Cream Palette in Suzie, which contains 5 cream glitter shades ranging from gold to copper. I have to say that I am not a fan of this stuff at all. The only other palette I've used like this are the NYX ones which I didn't like either, but where those are actually creamy but gritty and creased horribly these are just dry. I was thinking I must have just gotten a bad dried up one, but I looked up other people's review of this product and they all said the same thing. Used alone this product is just too dry to stick to anything and just flakes right off so I used it on top of glitter base and it worked OK. It still didn't last too long, but I much preferred it to just using it as is.
NYC Creme Blush in "Boho Chic". I have to say when I first pulled this out of my Bag I was both excited and disappointed at the same time. I had watched quite a few videos of this month's bag and all the one's I had saw contained powder NYX blushes and I really liked the ones they had, but I have always wanted to try their creme blushes and this was a color that I had heard people talk about, so again excited yet disappointed. I do have dry skin, but have never been a big fan of creme blushes, because they're either too sticky or too dry and just end up looking splotchy and they don't last very well. This color is a gorgeous pink color and the texture is more on the creamy, sticky side but I have to say I really LOVE this product. I tried applying it over my foundation, pre-powder, and after I used a translucent powder and I loved it both ways. It had great color pay off, applied well with a brush or fingers, and lasted for a great amount of time. I am super excited to try more of the NYX creme blushes.
Starlooks lipliner in "Tipsy". This is a beautiful, bright almost neon coral shade. It applies beautifully and is a very creamy formula. Because of the shade and creaminess I recommend exfoliating your lips and applying a lip balm first because it does emphasize dryness. I used this color alone because the color is so gorgeous and it didn't dry out my lips. After I applied the liner, I blotted it off and it lasted for a few hours, which is more than I can say for most lip colors. I loved the texture and formula and would definitely be open to trying more of the lip pencils.
Overall I have to say I really loved this month's bag and am excited for next month'a. I am definitely keeping my subscription to IPSY and would recommend it to anyone who loves beauty products. I hope you all found this helpful or just fun to read. Check back tomorrow for a look using all of the products listed above.
