"Mermaid's Tail" Eye Makeup How To

Hello makeup junkies! Ever since I can remember mermaids have been a huge part of my life, I mean I was seriously obsessed with all things "Little Mermaid" as a child and even now as an adult mermaids still fascinate me, and Little Mermaid is still my favorite movie ( hello, my hair is Ariel inspired-lol). Anyways, today's look was originally inspired by these new glitter duos from Hard Candy that I picked up at Wal Mart yesterday, that seriously look like the scales on a mermaid's tail. Since the glitters lean more towards the teal/turquoise side, I wanted to stick with that color palette for the rest of the shadows. I'm really happy with how the look came out and I hope all you like it as well. Don't forget to leave me comments with any requests or just to say hi, I love getting to chat with yall.

How To: EYES
-Apply your favorite eye primer all over your lids and underneath the lower lash line. Then apply either a nude or white base to the lids. The base will help the colors to look super vibrant and make them stand out even more.
-Highlight under the brow with a matte cream shadow, then blend a light matte blue shadow into your upper crease- this will act as your blending/transition shade.
-Take a slightly deeper matte blue and blend it into your crease, keeping it right under your transition shade. I kept all of my blue shadows more on the turquoise side to really keep with the "mermaid" theme, but you can use whatever tone blue you want or totally mix it up and use other colors all together!
-Take a deeper matte blue shadow and blend it into the crease, once again, keeping it right under the last shadow you applied; you can also feather this color down into the outer corner of the lid as well.
-Apply a shimmery pale blue shadow to the inner corners and around the tear ducts, then apply a shimmery teal shadow to the rest of your lid.
-On a very small blending brush, blend a small amount of black shadow into the crease and outer corners of the lids. Go back in with the blending brush you had your dark blue shadow on and blend that black out, so that it all blends out nicely.
-Using black liquid or gel liner, create a pretty dramatic winged liner. By applying your liner before your glitter, you can get the line smooth and perfect; whereas it would be super chunky looking if you applied it over the glitter.
-Using a glitter glue or base, apply a light blue glitter on top of the light blue shadow, then apply a deeper blue shadow over the top of the teal shadows. You can use only one glitter if it's easier for you, but I used these new glitter duos from Hard Candy (I'll try to do a review) and they are AMAZING!
-Lower Lash Line: Run your medium or deepest matte blue shadow from inner to outer corner, connecting it with the shadow on the upper lid. I also applied some of Sugarpill's "Lumi" (translucent w/ teal duo-chrome) loose shadow around the tear ducts to add an extra pop.
-Rim your eyes with a black kohl liner and add lots of mascara to your top and bottom lashes. False lashes would look gorgeous with these eyes, but my allergies have been horrible and I know they wouldn't have stuck.
