New Sigma 10% off Code for August and Some of my Fave Brushes and Eyeshadows!!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know about Sigma Beauty's new discount code for the month of August and figured that this would also be a good time to talk about some of my favorite Sigma brushes.

Sigma E25 blending brush:
^This is my all time favorite blending brush. It is a dupe of the MAC 217 brush and it is literally the blending brush that everyone needs in their collection. It has a pinched ferrule, that's the metal part that attaches the brush head to the brush handle, which gives it a flatter yet fluffy appearance. This brush is perfect for applying a soft wash of color all over the lid or to blend out anything you want. If I could have only one eye brush to use for the rest of my life this would be it!  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Blending_E25_p/e25.htm?Click=158935

Sigma F05 Small Contour brush:
^I use this brush every single day without fail. It is no secret to anyone that I am obsessed with contouring my entire face and I am always looking for that perfect brush to get that perfectly chiseled look, yet I always go back to this brush. The small dome shaped brush is just perfect to fit under the cheek bones, the temples, and under your jaw line. I also pinch the sides and use it to contour my nose everyday. I love that this brush is small enough to get into all those places, yet fluffy enough to blend it out to perfection as well. I honestly don't know what I would do without this brush in my life, because it has the power to make my face look like I was born with supermodel cheekbones and that's no joke.  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Performance_Eyes_Kit_p/pe01.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Sigmax F80 Flat Kabuki brush:
^Now this has to be Sigma's most famous brush, and with good reasoning. This brush is wonderful to apply and blend out liquid and cream products to the face. This brush is made out of synthetic brush hairs and they are so dense and so thick that it really not only feels great on the skin but allows the product you're applying to look so flawless and airbrushed. This brush is also the only foundation brush I use when doing other peoples makeup and I have so many people rave about how their faces look afterward. I start off by dotting the foundation all over the face then I buff it out using the brush, and then to finish everything off and to make sure there are no brush strokes I tap the brush over the face to smooth everything out.  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Sigma_Flat_Top_Synthetic_Kabuki_F_80_p/f80.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Sigmax F84 Angled Kabuki brush:
^Now because this brush is also part of the Sigmax line, it has the same synthetic brush hairs and is equally as dense as the other brushes in this collection. The cool thing about this brush is the angled shape, which really give you a wide range of uses. I love this brush for applying foundation to the skin, because the shape does allow you to get in every nook and cranny of the face. However my favorite way to use this brush is to apply cream bronzer and blush, also the powder versions work great with this brush as well. The shape of this brush fits perfect under or on top the cheekbones and pretty much does all the blending itself. I absolutely love the versatility of this brush and recommend it to everyone.  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Sigma_Angled_Top_Synthetic_Kabuki_F84_p/f84.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Sigmax F80 Flat Angled Kabuki brush:
^This is Sigma's latest installment to the Sigmax collection and quickly becoming my favorite to use. This brush has become my favorite foundation brush, out beating even the F80. This brush takes the best of the F80 and the F84 and combine them to create the perfect brush. This brush is flat topped, which makes it perfect for buffing on foundation, yet it is also angled so it fits perfectly to the contours of the face. This brush is so dense and wonderful, which seriously help to make the face look flawless.  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Sigma_Flat_Angled_Synthetic_Kabuki_F84_p/f88.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Performance Eyes Kit:
^This is my #1 recommended eye kit from Sigma. The Performance Eyes kit is filled with small precision-type brushes that are perfect for anyone with smaller lids or hooded lids, or for people like me who just love being able to do small precise detail work to their eye looks. I love and use these brushes on a daily basis and everything from the tiny crease brushes to the small shader brushes, to the perfect little liner brush and smudger brushes are perfect to getting a flawless eye look. The great news about this kit too is that now if you see a brush you love and don't want the whole kit, Sigma has made each brush available separately. I am seriously in love with this brush kit and couldn't be more thankful to my fiancee for buying this kit for my birthday. I seriously recommend this kit to everyone! http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Performance_Eyes_Kit_p/pe01.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Eye Shadow in Topaz:
^This eyeshadow has become my favorite to apply in the crease. It is a matte warm, orange brown with slight gold shimmers in it. However, the shimmers don't really show up when you blend it out. I love using this to warm up the crease and the lower lash line. This is just the perfect warm toned shadow to use on the eye and has quickly become my favorite shadow to wear this Summer and I know it will continue on into the colder months as well. http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Eye_Shadow_Topaz_p/es014.htm?Click=158935

Sigma Eye Shadow in Fawn:
^This shadow is my favorite lid color as of late. This is a gorgeous shimmery light taupe shadow that just makes your eyes light up. I love wearing this shade all over the lid with Topaz in the crease and a thick line of black liquid liner and loads of mascara. That to me is the perfect Summer look for day or night. This is just a great neutral shadow that would look great on everyone. I love how pigmented these shadows are and how smoothly they apply.  http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Eye_Shadow_Fawn_p/es012.htm?Click=158935

Forest Fatale- A smokey eye look

Hey guys! So today's look is based around Maybelline's Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in 50 Forest Fatale. It seems lately everyone has been trying to convince me that I need to start wearing more green eyeshadows, because of my hair. I'm not normally a big fan of greens, but since purchasing this pigment the other day I have been itching to use it in a look.

I knew I wanted this to be a smokey look from the very beginning, but instead of doing your normal everyday smokey eye I decided to do a sandwich smokey eye. That basically means having a lighter shade sandwiched between a darker color on the inner and outer corners. I've always been a fan of how this looks and the fun dimension it gives the eye. So to start off I primed the lids and added a green base to the eyelid only. Then I added a matte light brown to the crease to help smooth out the transition to the brow highlight and also to help with blending in the future. I applied the Maybelline pigment all over the lid and then applied a dark shimmery green to the inner and outer corners, leaving that lighter green shadow peaking out in the center. I made sure to blend the edges where the shadows meet so that everything is absolutely seamless, then I also blended some of that dark green into the crease connecting the inner and outer corner. I then applied the dark green all along the lower lash line and applied just a touch of the lighter green right to the center. I applied black gel liner along the upper lash line and blended it out with a matte black shadow and then also applied that gel liner to the waterlines. I highlighted the tear ducts with a shimmery champagne color and applied lots of black mascara to the lashes.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Eyeshadows- Review & Swatches (Full Collection)

Claims: (maybelline.com) Dare to wear intense eyeshadow color! Double-dipped pigments create double color intensity for your most explosive eyes. Superior long lasting eyeshadow staying power. Intense pure pigments in our crease-proof long wearing formula create explosive color for wear up to 24HR.

Price & Amount: Sells for around $4.99-6.99 for 0.05oz or 1.5g of product

My thoughts: I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with these pigments. There is a wide array of shades ranging from your everyday neutral shadows, to your fun bright shades that liven up any eye look. I feel like everyone will be able to find their perfect color. The pigmentation of these pigments are awesome and actually are some of the very best I have tried from the drugstore and actually do compare to some of the more expensive pigments I have as well. Their are a couple different finishes to these pigments. Some have a pretty metallic finish, some have fine shimmer running through them, and a couple have more pronounced glitters in them. However, I feel like they all apply beautifully to the lid and last for a long time.

How I apply: First off, I always use a primer and/or a base underneath the pigments. I feel like using something underneath helps them stick to the eye and creates a smaller amount of fallout, it also helps the pigments to keep their color all day without fading. I own every Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadow and there is pretty much a cream shadow for almost every pigment, except for a few so I like to try and match them together at times to help enhance the color payoff. If you're applying the pigments dry they can give the eyes a soft wash of color or can be built up with a couple layers to give full on color. My preferred method of applying these, when using on the lid, is to apply them with a wet brush. I generally just use water or sometimes setting spray on the brush and then I tap some pigment into the lid and press my brush into and pat onto the eyelid. Applying it this way gives you the most intense, vibrant color payoff and really lets all the shimmers and sparkles show through.

Packaging: Each Color Tattoo pigment comes packaged in a small pot, which you twist open. The best part of the packaging is the fact that is has a sifter on the pot, which was my main complaint with the Makeup Geek pigments. The sifter allows you to be able to tap out your desired amount of shadow without it spilling all over the place, it also helps keep the pot cleaner and helps you not waste your product.

Swatches:

Black Mystery, Brash Blue, Barely Brazen (Dry)
(Wet)

Buff & Tuff, Downtown Brown, Forest Fatale (dry)
(Wet)

Improper Copper, Wild Gold, Pink Rebel (dry)
(Wet)

Never Fade Jade, Potent Purple, Breaking Bronze (dry)
(wet)

Final Thoughts: I would say that if you have been thinking about purchasing some, or if you're like me-ALL, of these pigments go for it. I do not think you would be disappointed with these at all. My favorite shades are Improper Copper, Breaking Bronze, Barely Brazen, and Brash Blue and my least favorite is Potent Purple. The purple shade is the one pigment I would say to not buy, because out of all the shadows this one had the worst pigmentation and even used wet it just is not a unique shade. I have been having so much fun playing around with all these pigments and definitely have some fun looks coming up in the future featuring them.

I will link some looks I have posted using these pigments:

I really hope you guys like this review and if you have any questions feel free to message me. Have a great weekend!

Neutral Eyeshadow with Extreme Liner + 20% off Sigma coupon code

Hey guys! Now normally I don't ever wear my eyeliner quite this extreme, but I just re-dyed my hair last night so I was feeling a little sassy when doing my makeup today. I love this look for girls like me who have a more rounded eye shape, because it really elongates the eye and creates a much more feline eye shape. This look started off just being a normal, everyday neutral eye with smudge-y black liner, but it soon turned into this.

To start this look off I primed my eyelids and then applied a champagne base to the eyelid. Next I used a light, warm matte brown and applied it all over the crease to act as my transition color. Then I applied a champagne pressed pigment all over the lid and highlighted the brown bone with a pearl shadow. I then blended a medium, matte brown into the crease, blending it into the other colors. I applied a black pencil liner on the lid and smudged it out to create a slight wing on the outer corner. I then took a dark, matte brown and applied it over the wing in the outer corner and blended it into the crease. After that, I took a warm orange color and blended it over the colors in the crease to further blend everything out. Then taking that dark brown on a small brush I blended it into the socket line to create a soft cut crease effect. Taking a liquid liner I applied it to the upper lash line and lower lash line winging it out at the inner and outer corner. Next, taking a matte black shadow I blended out the liner on the lower lash line and then I took the transition shade and applied it underneath the black to create a shadow underneath. I then went back with an even blacker liquid liner and touched up the wing in the inner corner and the top line. To finish the look I applied a good amount of mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

Makeup Geek pigments Review & Swatches

This is a review of the 7 Makeup Geek pigments that I ordered. I purchased Sweet Dreams, Liquid Gold, Afterglow, Utopia, New Years Eve, Insomnia, and Paparazzi. Each of these pigments are sold for $6.99 each (U.S. dollars) and I received my order in about 3-4 days after I placed it. Each pot contains about 2 grams of product. Lately I have been trying out lots of pigments from a few different brands and honestly for the price and pigmentation these have been one of my favorites. They all pretty much apply effortlessly and opaquely with just one layer and whether you apply them wet or dry the pigmentation on these is outstanding. I didn't have any problem blending these colors out and in fact they all blended very well with each other as well as with other shadows. I have been testing these products out for a couple weeks and have been wearing at least one pigment every single day. I just love how creamy and smooth they apply. All of the colors have some amount of shimmer or glitter to them, so I have found that the best way to apply them, whether you use them wet or dry, is over top of a primer and/or base to cut down on fall out and maximize the appearance of the shimmer. The great thing about these pigments are that even if you're using just one color, there is so much dimension and shimmer or shine to them that you really don't need to have other shadows to make your eyes pop. Now because these are pigments, you can use them all over the face. I love using a couple of the shades as highlighters for my face, or mixed in with a lip gloss or lipstick for a 3-D effect, or used wet and applied on the lids as a fun liner.

I do have a couple cons to this product and my number one complaint is the packaging. I hate it! I don't mind the little pot that it comes in, but it does not contain a sifter so every time you open or close them product goes everywhere. I just really wish that it had a sifter or that the pot was deeper instead of wide so there was more room for the pigments to sit in there without being right at the top of the pot. I feel like I lose product every time I open or close the jar, so I have to be super careful to sit the pot down before I open it and tap all the sides and lid to make any lose shadow fall back in. I just think that a change in packaging would make these so much more user friendly, however these pigments are so great that I take all the extra precautions because they're that wonderful. My other complaint is just one I have with all pigments and that is the fallout, but that is to be expected and my tip is to apply your foundation and concealer after you do your eyes so you can clean everything up and keep yourself from looking like you got into a fight with the glitter monster.

Sweet Dreams- flesh toned beige pink with slight shimmer
^ This color is perfect for an everyday eye color. It has the least amount of shimmer or metallic to it out of all the shades I have. I love to apply this color to the inner corner of the eyes or on the face as a highlight. I found that this pigment applied smoothly wherever I put it. I like using this pigment wet first because it really brings out the shimmer and then applying just a bit of the dry pigment on top to set it.

Liquid Gold- True metallic gold
^ This pigment is a dirtier gold shade and by that I mean it isn't one of your bright gold pigments, such as Sugarpill's Goldilux, this one is a much deeper gold. This shade is a gorgeous metallic pigment that applies gorgeously to the lids. I prefer to use this pigment dry, because I feel like it goes on so pigmented and opaque without having to wet it. I felt like when I used water with it, it kind of bunched up on me and looked kind of streaky. I don't have any gold shadow or pigment that looks like this and am extremely happy to have it as part of my collection.

Afterglow- Soft shimmery champage
^This is one of my favorites out of all the pigments I bought, as well as one of the most versatile. This pigment applies so beautifully to the lids, or to the face as a highlight, or even patted on to the center of the lips to give fullness and shine to them. It's a gorgeous peachy-champagne shade with multicolored soft shimmers to it. I feel like for all you neutral loving girls out there, and even you crazy eye wearers too, you need this color in your collection. It applies perfectly wet or dry so whatever your preference have fun with it.

Utopia- Deep brown and antique gold shimmer duochrome glitter
^This was the pigment I was most excited to receive and the whole reason I placed the order in the first place and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint. I've heard that this is a dupe for MAC's antique gold reflects, but I don't own it so I can't say for sure. However, I will say that because this is a pigment and not just a glitter it will apply more opaquely to the lid. This color is just so gorgeous and fun to play with. The color is already intense enough on it's own , but used with a mixing medium or water makes it even sparklier and intense. It applies smoothly and evenly wet or dry and looks awesome over a black or brown base or just on its own. I did a smokier eye look using this pigment over a black base and absolutely loved how it came out. http://makeupbychelsea0106.blogspot.com/2013/07/utopia-eye-look-using-makeup-geek.html

New Years Eve- Light gold reflective glitter
^When I first tried out this color I have to admit I wasn't the biggest fan, which is sad because when you see it in the pot it looks stunning. I used it dry and it just didn't apply that well for me. The base color is nude and you don't really see it when you apply it, all you really notice is the little gold glitters and it just didn't look very nice. After playing around with it some more, I think the key to getting this pigment to live up to its full potential is to use it with a mixing medium (water works too). Once used wet it is a gorgeous light, shimmery gold with beautiful gold glitter. I have been loving using this on the inner corners of the lid to really brighten the eyes up. This shade made me realize that sometimes you just have to try products a few different ways to get it to look and apply how you want.

Insomnia- A warm chocolate brown base with blue/teal duochrome
^I am a sucker for any shadow like this. I love the warm, reddish brown base with a teal sheen to it. This pigment does remind me of MAC's blue brown pigment, but for the $6.99 price tag I would much prefer the Makeup Geek one. This shadow applies so smoothly to eye and looks just as pigmented dry as it does wet. I find shades like this so fun and easy to work with, because you really only need this one shadow to have a complete eye look. Because of the warm base and the blue duochrome it automatically gives you dimension to your eyes. I also really love to apply this pigment all over the lid and lower lashline and use matte warm browns into the crease and outer corner to complete the look. I feel like everyone can use a color like this in their makeup collection, because it's so fun and makes you feel super exotic when you apply it. I did a full eye look using this pigment: http://makeupbychelsea0106.blogspot.com/2013/07/insomnia-eye-look-feat-pigments-from.html

Paparazzi- Glittery smokey grey
^This pigment is a gorgeous charcoal shade with loads of multi-color glitters and shimmers in it. This pigment was a total impulse buy to me, because I didn't really like the swatch of it on the website, but the color description really intrigued me and I have to say I am quite happy with my purchase. This color sort of reminds me of Sugarpill's Stella pigment, but with a charcoal base instead of black. I think this is the perfect pigment for a smokey eye and it really blends out to give a soft blown out effect. I prefer this pigment applied dry, so you can see more of the grey color, as opposed to when it's used wet it gets darker. The glitters in this pigment are awesome and when used over a sticky base they really show up.

Insomnia- Eye Look feat. pigments from Makeup Geek

Today's look is featuring a couple more pigments I have picked up from Makeup Geek, mainly "Insomnia" a gorgeous warm brown with a teal duo chrome.  I've heard that this pigment is a dupe for MAC's blue brown pigment, which I don't own, but from swatches I've seen they are quite similar and for $6.99 I will most certainly choose the Makeup Geek one. First off this pigment applied beautifully without needing to be used wet or anything.

I knew I wanted this pigment to be the star of the look and keep the rest of the eyes simple using complementary colors. So I applied "Insomnia" all over the eyelid and lower lash line and then used a warm light brown in the crease to blend the color out and make the transition to the brow highlight easier. I then blended a matte, red-brown shadow into the crease. The eyeshadow matched the warm undertone of the pigment perfectly and allowed for the crease to look even more blended out and soft. I used a matte cream shadow to highlight and lift the brow bone. I then applied a super dark, warm based brown into the socket line and outer corner of eye creating a very soft cut crease look. I then lined the lid with a black gel liner, flicking it up at the outer corners and then used a small smudge brush to blend and soften out that line. I also lined the waterlines with a black eye pencil, just because my eyes are pretty big and the black allows them to look a bit smaller and more defined, but I feel like this look would look awesome with a warm brown pencil as well. To complete the look I added a shimmery nude pigment to the inner corner and applied lots of mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

Products Used:
EYES:
-MAC Pro Longwear concealer- NC15
-Makeup Geek pigment- Insomnia
-Wet 'n Wild Vanity palette- all matte colors
-Lorac Pro palette- Sable
-Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner- blackest black

-Revlon Photoready bronzer- Bronzed & Chic
-NARS blush- Lustre
-MAC MSF- Soft and Gentle
-Maybelline Define-A-Brow- medium brown
-Maybelline Great Lash clear mascara
-No 7 Hydrating Mineral water spray

I wanted to keep the eyes the main focus of the look so I kept the rest of the face very natural and pretty. I used a light illuminating foundation with a Beauty Blender sponge to make it even more luminous and light. I also used a brightening concealer to highlight under the eyes and set all of it with a little bit of powder.
I then used a matte bronzer to sculpt the face and a warm caramel/orange colored blush. I topped off the look with a champagne colored highlighting powder on the tops of the cheekbones, cupids bow, and down the bridge of my nose. I set the whole look with a hydrating, mineral water spray.

I have seriously fallen in love with all the Makeup Geek pigments and am super interested in trying out more of their makeup collection. I love that this look is neutral with the warm browns, but totally fun with the teal duo-chrome in the lid color. I have always loved these type of colors, which is probably why at last count I have 6 different eye shadows that are the warm brown/teal color, but I have to say because of how well this pigment applies this is my favorite. I still have a couple more of these pigments left to try out and work with before I do a review, but so far so good.

Have an awesome weekend!
