Bahama Mama - Neutral, Glittery Eyes & Blue Lips feat. Sigma Beauty and Whitening Lightning - Makeup Tutorial

Hello gorgeous makeup junkies! I'm so excited to share this fun, tropical-inspired look with ya'll today. Recently I purchased the "Bahama" Color Your Smile lighted lip gloss from Whitening Lightning, which as you can see, is a super bright turquoise colored lip gloss. Now, this is my first ever blue colored lip product and normally I wouldn't be drawn to a lip color like this, but I've been seeing so many blue lips on Instagram that I just had to try it; let me tell you I am so happy I did!! Now I know not everyone is going to give blue lips a try, because let's face it it's a little out there and in your face, which is totally not everyone's style. However, I feel like if you're looking for a fun and bright Spring lip trend, this one's for you.

For this look I kept the eyes pretty neutral, using matte nude shadows from the Sigma "Warm Neutrals" palette on the upper lid, then adding a fun glittery pop to the lower lash line and some fun false lashes. I used turquoise glitter to help tie in the look, but you can leave out the glitter to keep the look more neutral. For the rest of the face, I used a full coverage foundation to make my skin appear flawless. Then I added a matte powder to set everything and take away the shine. I want to keep the complexion very matte, so I also used a matte bronzer to sculpt my face and add some warmth and color to my skin tone. A peachy/pink blush and some shimmery highlight powder to finish off the face. I applied my brows before I did anything to my face, just filling in the sparse areas, then setting it with a tinted brow gel. I wanted to keep everything pretty matte and neutral, so that the bright blue lips could be the focus (and they def. will be).

Makeup How-To: EYES

1. Brows & Primer
-Fill in the sparse areas of your brows, then set them in place with a brow gel. I like to fill in my brows before I apply any other makeup, that way I'm not worrying about messing them up. I can fill them in, then clean them up with my fingers and my eyeshadow primer or base. Using said primer or base, apply all over your lids and lower lash line to keep your eyeshadow from creasing.

2. Base Shadow
-Apply a matte cream shadow all over your lid, from lashline to brow. This will not only work as your lid and brow highlight color, but will also help your other shadows blend much easier. I used "Sugar Milk" from the Warm Neutrals palette.

3. Transition/Blending Shade
-Blend a matte, medium brown shadow into your upper crease. This is going to help the transition from your next crease shade into the brow highlight. You want the crease to look very soft and blended out, but still defined so don't be afraid to blend and add color when you need to. I used "Cozy" from the WN palette.

4. Crease / Outer Corner
-Blend a warm toned, medium matte brown shadow into your crease and outer corner. I used a brown shadow with an orange undertone, so that it compliments the blue lip gloss. I used "Cinnamon" from the WN palette.

5. Liquid Liner
-Apply black winged liner to your upper lid. You can apply your wing as big or as small as you want.

6. Lower Lash Line
-Apply a turquoise colored glitter to the lower lash line, from inner to outer corner.

7. Tear Duct
-Blend a shimmery nude shadow around the tear ducts, bringing it up onto the inner corner of the upper lid and down into the lower lash line. Applying the nude shadow like this will not only help brighten your eyes, but will also help connect the upper and lower lid so you don't have a weird blank spot.

8. Mascara, Liner, False Lashes
-Curl your lashes, then apply black mascara to the top and bottom lashes, then rim your entire eye with a black liner. Add a dramatic pair of false lashes to amp up and finish the look.

NYX / Hautelook Haul & Swatches

Hey guys! I finally got all of my NYX order from Hautelook, so I just had to hop on here to show you what I got. NYX was on Hautelook about a month ago, and as you know NYX is an inexpensive brand, so I got a really great deal on all these little sets. I've had these products for a few days, so I've gotten a chance to play around with most of the products and so far I am very happy with what I got; which with NYX I kind of already expected that! All the products I bought are new to me, so I was very happy that I liked all the products and there weren't any duds. Anyways, keep reading to see swatches and my thoughts on all these goodies!

Smokey Metallic Pigment set- Mink, Charcoal, Mocha

(Mink, Charcoal, Mocha)
Mink- Pale gold
Charcoal- Shimmering dark grey
Mocha- Light Brown
^It’s not hard to sparkle with one of our ultra-shimmering, loose shadow powders that can be used on eyes and cheeks. These finely-milled mineral eye shadows are high-impact, long-lasting—and a little addictive.
-This is the first time I've ever tried NYX's pigments, and I found that they were really shimmery and pigmented. I've always loved loose shadows and these do not disappoint, so I will definitely be buying more of these.

Color Poppin' Pigment set- Turquoise, Orange, Space

(Turquoise, Orange, Space)
Turquoise- Blue green
Orange- Orange
Space- Ocean Blue

False Lash Trio- Out of Control, Tonis fave, Gorgeous

^No longer reserved just for special occasions, the runway or the red-carpet, false eyelashes are now an everyday staple. As their name suggests, our falsies create instant fabulosity, plus they’re easy to apply and uber-fun to wear. Our extensive eyelash library includes both natural and synthetic hair lashes for every look under the sun—or the moon.
-I am a huge fan of NYX's lashes. I find that they apply easily, the band usually isn't very thickI'm, and they're supposed to be reusable up to 10 times. I'm an eyelash junkie, so I'm just so excited to have 6 fun new pairs.

False Lash Trio- Precious, Extreme Measures, Illumination

Glam Liner Aqua Luxe trio- Glam Purple, Glam Nude, Glam Pink

(Glam Purple, Glam Nude, Glam Pink)
Glam Purple- Purple with blue irridescent
Glam Nude- Metallic beige with slight silver reflects
Glam Pink- Baby Pink with silver glitter
^Stand out from the crowd with these new eye-catching liquid liners. Available in 9 vivacious shades, these shimmering, long-wearing liners have a flexible brush tip for perfectly precise, surprisingly smooth application.
-These were the one product I was a little iffy about. All the shades are super pretty and shimmery, but you do have to build up a couple layers for full color payoff. I found that these look absolutely beautiful when layered over a black or white liner, so the pigment really stands out.

Mechanical Lip Pencil Set- Peony, Jewel, Nude Pink, Citrus, Red

(Peony, Jewel, Nude Pink, Citrus, Red)
Peony- Shimmery bubblegum pink
Jewel- Burgundy with silver reflects
Nude Pink- Neutral mid-tone pink
Citrus- Shimmery orange/peach
Red- Bright Blue Red
^Lip service we love. Create the perfect pout with our creamy, richly pigmented liner in an easy twist-up pencil. Renowned for its staying power!
-I was already a huge fan of these lip pencils. They are mechanical, highly pigmented, and water proof. I love to completely fill in my lips with these pencils; because they are waterproof, I feel like they really lock in whatever lipstick I put on top and help them last longer.

^My baby Miu Miu wanted me to take a break!!

Deep Intense Glow Blush set- Desert Rose, Cocoa, Cinnamon

(Desert Rose, Cocoa, Cinnamon)
Desert Rose- Matte burgundy pink
Cocoa- Matte red brown
Cinnamon- Matte bright orange
^Our pressed powder blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on, blends beautifully and creates a natural glow. The formula is richly-pigmented and lasts for hours.
-I absolutely LOVE NYX's blushes. These powders are nicely pigmented and blend well.

Peachy & Dandy Powder Blush set- Summer Peach, Peach, Pinched

(Summer Peach, Peach, Pinched)
Summer Peach- Peachy pink with gold reflects
Peach- Matte baby pink
Pinched- Coral pink with gold glitter and iridescence

I'm so happy with all these products and I can't wait to get some more looks using them (I've already done one look)

Turquoise Shimmer - Makeup How-To

Hello beautiful makeup junkies! I am so excited to share today's look with you, not only because I used mostly affordable makeup, but also because I'm just in love with how beautiful the turquoise shades look on the eyes and the nude lips really help my lips look extra pouty and sultry; which is always an amazing thing! I had originally planned on posting a look using my Starbox products, but my NYX order came in from Hautelook and I couldn't pass up playing around with the pigments I bought- especially the bright turquoise and the pretty charcoal shades. These eyes remind me of a mermaid tail, with all it's shimmering blue sparkles. I wanted the eyes to be the center of attention, so I kept the rest of the face very simple and added some sexy nude lips to pull everything together. I forgot to take individual pictures of my eyes for a how-to, so I'm just going to write out all the steps for you this time, just so ya'll can know what I did and I will make sure to take pictures next time for you. Anyways, just keep reading to see how to get this look for yourself and don't forget to follow me on Instagram to see more looks and updates from me- talesofamakeupjunkie

How To: EYES
-Fill in your brows like you always do.
-Start the eye look off by applying your favorite eye primer all over the lids and underneath the lower lash line. You can also add a piece of tape at the outer edges to create a sharp edge, or just use some makeup remover to clean up the edges when you're finished. You want the eyes to have a sharp, extended shape to it; this will help your eyes look more feline and sultry.
-Apply a matte cream shadow under your brow to highlight.
-Blend a light, matte brown shadow into your crease, blending up and outwards to act as your blending/transition shade.
-Take a light, shimmery turquoise shadow and apply it to the inner half of your lids and lower lash line.
-Then take a shimmery charcoal shadow and apply it to the outer half of your lid and lower lash line, making sure to blend the line between the 2 shadows so there are no harsh lines. You want to make sure that you use a charcoal shadow that has a blue undertone to it, so that it works with the turquoise shadow.
-Using a black gel liner (or liquid), line your upper lash line; winging it out a little at the outer edges. Then rim your eyes with a black liner.
-I applied Sugarpill's "Lumi" loose shadow around the tear ducts and a little to the center of my lower lash line to really make my eyes pop. "Lumi" is a translucent shadow with teal and turquoise reflects to it. I haven't found a dupe for this shade, so if you don't have Lumi just use a shimmery blue shadow that is lighter than your lid shade.
-Curl your lashes and apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Add a pair of false lashes to amp up the eyes further.

How To: FACE & LIPS
-Apply a pore smoothing primer to your face, to smooth out the skin and prep it for foundation.
-Buff a medium-full coverage foundation all over your face, then add concealer under your eyes and to any redness or blemishes still showing through.
-Set your concealer with a light toned powder, then set the rest of your face with a powder that matches your skin tone. You can use a loose translucent powder all over your face if your prepare.
-Apply a matte bronzer under your cheek bones and sides of the temples to help warm up your skin tone and shape your face. I also contoured my nose and jaw bone as well.
-Apply a shimmery highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and your cupid's bow to help brighten up your face.
-Line and fill in your lips with a rosy/nude lip liner, then apply a light nude lipstick to the center of your lips and blend it out. You want to create a subtle ombre lip, so you may want to go back with the lip liner to re-define the outer corners of your lip.
-Then add a nude lip gloss to the center of your lips. By doing these steps with your lips, it will create the illusion of a fuller pout; which is something most of want.
-Set all of your makeup with a makeup setting spray to keep everything in place all night.
